Poetry/Film Workshop – with ‘Chaucer Cameron and Helen Dewbery aka Elephant’s Footprint’
Date(s) - 27/04/2017
14:30 - 16:30
The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries is delighted that Dr Alison Habens is taking part in this Poetry/Film Workshop presented by Bristol based Elephants Footprint. The workshop is perfect for those interested in developing their poetry/creative writing with film techniques or indeed film makers wanting to link with creative writers, and will be hosted at the University of Portsmouth Eldon building.
Format: Poetry Film has an international community of poets and filmmakers. During this 2 hour workshop we view a wide variety of poetry films to learn and discuss what poetry film is and the emerging genres. This part of the workshop will begin to raise awareness about what makes a good poetry film. We then look at the opportunities and challenges of either making your own poetry film or working in collaboration with others – whether you are a poet or filmmaker. This section also includes where to find film and sound online and voice recording.
Finally, there is an overview of where to present finished work online and in film and poetry festivals, both in the UK and internationally.
Following the workshop there will be an opportunity to join a Facebook group for further support and inspiration.
Note there will also be a follow up workshop in Portsmouth in May with a further opportunity for a presentation of your work at a public event at The Square Tower on July 2.
