About The Girls’ Network:
The Girls’ Network aims to inspire and empower girls aged 14-19 from the least advantaged communities by connecting them to a mentor and a network of professional role models who are women. We support over 1000 girls a year via relationships with schools in seven UK regions, including Portsmouth. Professional volunteers are trained in mentoring and safeguarding by The Girls’ Network and meet their mentees at least once a month for a year. Mentoring is a journey, helping mentees get from where they are to where they want to be. You can find out more here.
About the PONToon project:
The Girls’ Network would like to thank you to the PONToon project for sponsoring refreshments and venue space for this event.
PONToon (Partnership Opportunities using New Technologies fostering sOcial and ecOnomic inclusioN) is an exciting project that will use a range of new and developing technologies such as games development, 3D/virtual reality, social media and web/mobile apps to engage, support and up-skill women in order to aid their employment opportunities.
The project is centred around community development, social and economic inclusion and equality. It aims to produce a method of working that’s not only scalable and transferrable but also applicable to broader demographic sets and geographical regions for continuing impact.
