Re_Imagining Southampton

2 April 2019 - 4 May 2019

School of Architecture students, from the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth, are exhibiting their work in their exhibition Re_Imagining Southampton in the John Hansard Gallery.

Masters of Architecture Studio 1 would like to invite you to our exhibition Re_Imagining Southampton at the John Hansard Gallery, Southampton SO14 7DU, the exhibition runs from 2nd April to 4th May 2019.

Exhibition Open – 11am-5pm, Tues – Sat

Re-Imagining Southampton presents the work of Portsmouth School of Architecture’s MArch2 Studio1 students. During the academic year 2018-19, students were invited to consider the city of Southampton as a testing ground to imagine alternative urban and architectural scenarios. Students were encouraged to challenge architectural, social and cultural conventions in order to put forward speculative proposals that have the potential to push the boundaries of architectural creativity.

Southampton is full of extraordinary architectural possibilities. Re-lmagining Southampton provides an insight into some of these possibilities, suggesting new approaches to city planning that embrace ambition, identity and sense of belonging. These ‘works in progress’ offer a unique glimpse into the conceptual and design process that brings architecture into being and reimagines the city in new and unexpected ways.
