The University of Portsmouth has been awarded a prestigious ‘Gold’ rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the UK government’s first assessment of teaching excellence in higher education.
On 25th January certificates were presented to the sixty students who volunteered this year for Melanie FitzGerald’s Creative Volunteers project.
April 27th saw the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries attend the Student Union’s annual Teaching & Learning Awards, receiving five awards across the evening.
Over 150 guests attended the University’s Enterprise Showcase on Thursday 16 March 2017, hosted by nest (part of the Department of Employability). It was an inspiring evening which confirmed the depth of entrepreneurial talent within the University’s students, graduates and staff.

In its fourth year, the University of Portsmouth Game Design Jam continues to be a high point of the year for the Advanced Games Research Group. This year the Game Design Jam gave budding designers an opportunity to create a game pitch on the theme of ‘Diversity’ with entrants inspired by an article of their choice in the Huffington Post’s Diversity page.
Will 2017 be the year of coders, designers or engineers? Which countries or campuses will dominate the rankings for the third year of the prize? One thing is certain; the enthusiasm felt today is greater than the 750 places available: it is recommended to register as soon as possible.
Greek artist and University of Portsmouth student Vivi Markatos has won the Chaplaincy Carol Poster competition.
Three architecture students at the University of Portsmouth have won prizes for their work from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Ben Ross was a double winner. His design for a new kind of civic centre for Christchurch, in Dorset, secured him the RIBA South Student Prize.
