BA (Hons) Animation Virtual Graduation

Members of staff working in the School of Creative Technologies ran a fun virtual graduation celebration for the BA (Hons) Animation students on Google Meet on Friday 17th July.

They encouraged the students to make their own graduation outfits, as did the staff (with some scale issues with the mortarboards!)  The animation staff reached out to their industry friends and animation alumni to record congratulation messages to the students, which were played at the event. This included ex-Disney animators, who’d worked on The Lion King and Pocahontas, and alumni who’d worked on the latest Star Wars films.

The students graduating from the course created animated films as part of their final major projects, edited into a beautiful showreel.

Mat Garey put together a fun ‘virtual graduation‘ animation and they also announced awards to the students for ‘most outstanding student’, ‘best 2D’, best 3D’ and ‘best design’.  The students who attended said they thoroughly enjoyed it.

“The graduation ceremony was lovely……it was a really great thing to do with everything going on and we all really appreciate you and the other lecturers going out of your way to make it happen! It was lovely to see you all!” – Lara Burley

“Just want to say thank you from Lulu, Harry, Freddie and myself, for a wonderful virtual ceremony and time at university! I hope to stay in contact :)” – Charlotte Vincent
The students will attend their formal graduation ceremonies in May 2021.
