The News Guide Awards

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth are very proud to report recent success by creative staff and alumni at The News Guide Awards held at the Kings Theatre.

We were delighted to hear that the award for Best Band went to Fake Empire, made up of CCI faculty staff – Simon Brookes (Associate Dean Students), Les Black (Service Delivery Manager), and Rebecca Bellinger (Teaching Fellow).

CCI alumnus and artist Pete Codling won two awards – Best Visual Artist and a Special Achievement Award.

BA (Hons) Film Production students’ short film Family Night (dir. Caleb Johnston) was the runner-up for the Best Local Film Award presented by Portsmouth Film Society and Making Waves Film Festival.

In the shortlist of nominations for Best Visual Artist were Fours and Eights who are both alumni and CCI staff members Darren Page (Specialist Print Technician) and Marie Cleaver (Graphic Design lecturer).

In addition, Sarah Parham (the dean’s PA) is part of the organising team of Dials Festival which was shortlisted for Best Event.

Many congratulations to all the winners and nominees!
