Portsmouth Festivities Opens 2019’s Community Program – Calling CCI alumni and staff

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth is delighted to announce Portsmouth Festivities‘ 20th Anniversary with the opening of 2019’s Community Program.

The Festival has been growing year on year. Since the Community Programme was introduced in 2014, it has grown to become a great success with the events being well received within the City of Portsmouth.

Each year, the Festivities celebrates the best of Portsmouth and offer creative individuals and organisations the chance to showcase their work. There were many successful applicants to last year’s Festivities, including Pronoun, by The Young Creatives Portsmouth, The Tea Set, and Portsmouth Philharmonic, to name but a few. Many of these community events continued after Festivities ended giving it a great legacy.

Portsmouth Festivities is calling for organisations and individuals from the community to apply to put on an event as part of Festivities 2019. This is a fantastic chance to showcase new and existing talent within a Festival framework. It’s a wonderful opportunity within the City and it will increase our offer to deliver the best Festivities yet!

The theme for 2019 is TWENTY.  It is the 20th anniversary of Portsmouth Festivities so would strongly welcome applications from creatives with a relevance to this theme.

“Last year saw a record number of entries. It is going to be such a big year for Festivities and so even more reason to get involved in our 10 day Festival” Erica Smith, Festivities Director.
