The Star & Crescent are offering 12 local residents a free place on a 10-week local journalism course based in Portsmouth.
The publication are looking for local residents with a passion for Portsmouth, and an interest in improving the quality of local news in the City, to sign up to their #ReclaimTheNews investigative journalism training course.
From April 21st, the Star & Crescent team will be joined by national experts and journalists over 10 weeks to train participants in a range of areas relating to investigative and community journalism.
Alongside weekly training, participants will be supported and mentored to write at least one story for publication in the Star & Crescent from July 2018.
The course will cover a range of techniques and issues relating to local journalism, including: the basics of reporting news and feature articles; media law and ethics; and how to use the Freedom of Information Act to write news stories.
The course requires no previous experience in writing or journalism.
