Following on from last year’s successful event, in collaboration with the International College Portsmouth (ICP), CCI hosted a taster day with staff and students from ICP.
An introductory talk and a tour of Eldon Building welcomed the prospective students, who are studying foundation pathways in Architecture, Design and Fashion, Media, and Games Technologies
ICP Students were then invited to take part to their first design challenge, to experience and use the advanced facilities Eldon has to offer, as well as meeting CCI students and staff.
Students planning to study Architecture or Interior Architecture and Design were invited to take part in a live design workshop with School of Architecture students, as well as CCI and ICP colleagues.
The challenge was to come up with inspiring ideas for the main ICP Reception and Welcome Area, a key space of the college, which could experience some potential redesign in the near future.
Those due to join courses in the School of Creative Technologies and the School of Art and Design had the opportunity to have hands on experience with the Virtual Reality Lab as well as meeting lecturers and current students from the CCI Schools.
Students from all over the world are able to join a range of CCI courses after studying a foundation year with ICP here in Portsmouth. They study for two terms, giving them an opportunity to explore their chosen discipline, develop their skills and build a portfolio.
“It was a great opportunity to meet these students and to introduce them to our Faculty. They worked really well with our CCI students, discussed very interesting design ideas and showed a very strong interest towards the discipline. I really look forward to working with them next year” Roberto Braglia, Senior Lecturer and School of Architecture International Coordinator, who organised this event.
Peter Venables, ICP College Direct, and Heidia Podd, ICP Senior Manager of Academic and Student Services, also joined the final presentations and were very impressed by the outcomes of the day.
