Take Part in Young Women’s Day

The University of Portsmouth, Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries, encourage staff and alumni to get involved in the City of Portsmouth’s Young Women’s Day.

In recognition, and celebration of International Women’s Day, taking place on 8th of March, on Saturday 10th of March, the City of Portsmouth will host Young Women’s Day.

Young Women’s Day will take place at the Charles Dickens Centre, between 12.00 pm and 4.00 pm, with an exciting range of activities, including music studio tours, a Flash Mob with Pompey in the Community, digital arts with Aspex Gallery, open mic performances, a bake off competition and more.

The day will start with a brief talk from artist Mandy Webb, who will be exhibiting her dresses, and participating in the day.

To help make Young Women’s Day great, Portsmouth City Council are calling out for local women to take part in Young Women’s Day, to act as mentors in Speed Meetings.

The Speed Meetings will be an opportunity for young women to come along and talk with local women in a variety of careers, ask questions and learn about different career options.

The aim of the Speed Meetings is to inspire young women, raise their aspirations and show them career options they otherwise may not have considered.

The Speed Meetings will be split in to two sections, running from 2.30pm to 3.00pm and 3.00pm – 3.30pm.

To get involved you can email amanda.littlefield@portsmouthcc.gov.uk with your name and job title/major interest, along with a short biography statement and a contact number.
