Enter the WriteUp Short Story Competition

University of Portsmouth, BA English Literature students are encouraging people to enter into their WriteUp Short Story Competition. 

The WriteUp Short Story Competition is an exciting new venture brought to the University of Portsmouth, by Level 5 English Literature Students.

The competition accepts short stories written by anyone currently working or studying at the University, there is no restriction on theme of genre, so everyone has an equal opportunity to unleash their creativity.

Entries must be 3,000 words or less, and submitted before midnight on Friday the 9th March 2018. Submissions can be made by emailing your entry to English@port.ac.uk, with the subject title WriteUp Short Story Entry.

Once your story has been submitted, there will be no opportunity to edit, so be sure to proofread your work before submission.

Judges will announce the shortlisted applicants on Friday the 23rd March, and that afternoon there will be an exhibition for those shortlisted, to attend.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the Winner’s Ceremony, where the winner will be announced on Tuesday the 29th March.

Shortlisted candidates will also have their work published in the WriteUp anthology!

The competition is run in collaboration with Beanstalk, a charity that encourages children to read if they’ve fallen behind, you can find out more about Beanstalk on their website, or you can donate here.

This competition is the perfect opportunity for writers of all abilities to submit their work for free to a panel of judges.
