CCI Arts Exchange Students Interviewed by The British Council

Eight University of Portsmouth, CCI Fashion and Textile Design students visited China on an arts exchange programme with Wuhan Textile University, which you can read about here

University of Portsmouth students Sanna Karjalainen, and Lauren Rees, recently spoke to the British Council, to talk about the evolution of their style, practical skills and tools every designer needs, and their experiences working alongside students in China.

In the interview, the girls discuss the differences between fashion in China and in the UK, as well as looking back on their first ever garment they made, and discussing how they have grown as a designer since then.

From the interview it is clear to see how much of an impact the arts exchange programme has made, helping to influence these young Fashion and Textile Design students, encouraging them to look beyond their own experiences and world view, making them want to take risks, and to step away from their usual style and routines.

You can read the whole of the fascinating interview over on the British Council Website.
