The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries and Portsmouth Festivities present a spectacular electrifying demonstration ‘CCI lecturers Back to the Future: The Mind Boggling Sounds of the Modular Synthesiser’.
Led by Dr Pere Villez, Course Leader for MSc Music Technology, Stephen Pearse and Phil Thompson, lecturers in the School of Creative Technologies, CCI and Portsmouth Festivities presents an electrifying demonstration of giant synthesisers, exploring a century of sound electrification. The past, present and imagined future of towering modular electronica is presented as a dramatic AV performance starring the legendary Californian Buchla 200e System 7, New York Modular “Wall of Doom” and the ©21 Euro-modular instruments. Meet the Theremin, Vocoder, Phaser, Spring Tanks, Ring Modulators and other wonderful electronic protagonists from the Sci-Fi planet of sound.
The demonstration will be held in Eldon building lecture theatre EW1.10 on Thursday 23rd June from 1pm until 2pm.
