BSc (Hons) Television and Broadcasting student wins award for extra curricular ‘Cheer Off’ programme

Second year BSc (Hons) Television and Broadcasting student, Brooke Hockley, has been working closely with Sports and Recreation this year as a Cheerleading Coach contributing greatly to the local community outreach programme, UP for Sport.

On top of her academic studies, Brooke has been committed to engaging with with local schools and communities winning the ‘Contributor to Community’ award at last week’s Sports Awards (delivered by Sports and Recreation in association with the Students’ Union).

Brooke won the award for her hard work and determination reflected in her ‘Cheer off’ programme where she took on three local schools, delivering ten weeks of coaching in each school and supporting their Cheer Off Festival in March.

Subsequently, next academic year Brooke will have a bigger role within the programme. She will be supporting Zoe Monk, Sports Development Officer, training the new cheerleading coaches in her Head Coach role and co-ordinating her fellow cheer coaches across the schools.

On behalf of CCI, we would like to congratulate Brooke Hockley on her well deserved success and wish her luck in the future.
