University of Portsmouth Graduate students shortlisted for Student Media Award

Two University of Portsmouth Graduate students have been selected for the shortlist of the Guardian’s Student Media Awards 2014.

Brogan Kay-Jessop BA (Hons) Journalism has been shortlisted for Student feature writer of the year and Alecsandra Raluca Dragoi BA (Hons) Photography for Student photographer of the year.

The full shortlist for the 36th annual Guardian Student Media Awards was published on Wednesday. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 27th November.

As well, three newspapers from Nottingham, Oxford and York universities have been shortlisted for the student publication of the year prize.

Three York publications – The Lemon Press, Nouse and York Vision – are in the running for the prestigious award along with Nottingham’s Impact magazine and the Oxford Medical School Gazette.

More than 700 entrants put themselves forward for this year’s awards, which were judged by senior industry figures including the Guardian News & Media editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger, Financial Times deputy editor John Thornhill and Cate Sevilla, managing editor of Buzzfeed UK.

On top of this nomination, Alecsandra has been shortlisted for the Art Graduates Prize 2014.  You can read more about the award here and also remember to vote for Alecsandra’s work by the 31st October.
