UPDMS Presents: West Side Story

8 March | 08:00 - 10 March | 17:00

£15

University of Portsmouth, CCI staff and students are invited to the New Theatre Royal production of West Side Story.

UPDMS presents one of the most memorable musicals of all time. Arthur Laurent’s book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim is widely regarded as one of the best ever written.

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Produced by Jack Usherwood, and musically directed by Colin Jagger, this amateur production is not to be missed.

The production will take place at the New Theatre Royal on the 8th, 9th and 10th of March at 7.30 pm each night, with an additional 2.30 pm production on Saturday the 10th of March.

Join the brilliant cast, and the University Orchestra, in this wonderful retelling of a classic Shakespeare tale.

Tickets range from £11 to £15, with an exclusive offer of £2 off for students, as well as £2 off of tickets purchased before January, making this an ideal Christmas gift. Tickets can be purchased on the New Theatre Royal website, or by calling 023 9264 9000
