The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries invites University of Portsmouth students to volunteer to help run the events for Journeys Festival International which celebrates the creative talent of exceptional refugee and asylum seeker artists and shares refugee experiences through great art and culture.
Produced by ArtReach, the Festival takes place for the third year in Portsmouth from 19 – 28 October 2018, and takes place at various locations and venues across Portsmouth.
Working across a wide range of creative media and disciplines, Journeys Festival International aims to bring the exceptional talent of local, national and international refugee artists into the public eye. Journeys Festival International combines live music, workshops, theatre, performance, film, discussion, exhibitions and pop-up events to create a vibrant and engaging programme of events.
In addition to the core team that produces and manages the Festival, we are seeking a team of enthusiastic volunteers to help share information at our events, support artists and workshops, and to help with evaluation tasks, that will enable us to effectively assess the impact of our work. As well as covering expenses for all volunteers, we hope that participating in the event will provide a rewarding and enjoyable experience!
Volunteers (aged 18 +) are needed from 19 – 28 October 2018 and shifts can be arranged around your availability. Volunteers will have a full briefing in October, date and venue to be confirmed.
This opportunity would help creative students gain professional practice experience in a leading arts festival.
