Portsmouth Bookfest is a festival organised by Portsmouth City Library Service, and the Hayling Island Bookshop, that celebrates Portsmouth’s strong literary heritage, including authors such as Charles Dickens, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and HG Wells.
On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of February, between 10 am and 4 pm, White Swan Building will host the Portsmouth Bookfest Publishing Weekend, an event useful to anyone looking to research and edit their writing, publish their work and build their author brand.
Whether you are thinking of self-publishing, or going down the traditional route, understanding the process is essential. The Publishing Weekend will see a range of experienced speakers sharing their wealth of knowledge on all aspects of the publishing journey, and will offer plenty of opportunities to ask your own questions.
Saturday the 17th will focus on working towards publication, including talks, and practical workshops on researching, editing and pitching your ideas to the publishers.
Sunday the 18th will discuss the publishing process and being a published author, confronting topics such as how to choose a publishing platform, build your author brand, designing a book cover, your book as a product, and the use of social media.
Tickets cost £20 per day, or if you book a weekend ticket, it will cost just £30 for both days. The ticket price includes a light networking lunch, as well as tea and coffee throughout the day.
