Please join the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth‘s White Swan Theatre, Studio 1, on March 22 at 1pm for a public lecture by Professor Stephani Etheridge Woodson. She will be covering how arts engagement and drama can be used to enact real tangible change.
Dr. Etheridge Woodson is the Director of the Design & Arts Corps at Arizona State University, which partners with communities to place designers, artists, scholars and educators in public life and prepares students to use their creative capacities to advance culture, strengthen democracy and imaginatively address today’s most pressing challenges.
When fully realised, the Design & Arts Corps will be the largest socially engaged design and arts program in the United States. Dr. Etheridge Woodson’s book Theatre for Youth Thirdspace: Performance, Democracy, and Cultural Development (Intellect/University of Chicago Press) was the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Book Award by the American Alliance for Theatre & Education.
