Two of the University of Portsmouth’s CCI staff members, Louis Netter, and Oliver Gruner have contributed a three page comic to the highly anticipated Corbyn Comic, published by independent graphic novel publisher, Self Made Hero.
The Corbyn Comic Book features the unlikely comic book hero, Jeremy Corbyn, and his plight against the opposition ‘Maydusa’, as well as documenting his equally important tasks of jam making, and looking after his cat, EL Gato.
The book, which is available from the 25th of September, will be launched at a table at the Labour Party conference in Brighton, but will also be available through selected booksellers, including Waterstones.
Netter and Gruner join the likes of Guardian Cartoonists, Steve Bell, Martin Rowson, and Stephen Collins, as well as comic artists Karrie Fransman, and Steven Appleby, in contributing to this weird and wonderful publication.
Waterstones, are hosting an exciting book launch with a twist, which will feature an evening talk, and discussion with Netter and Grunel, an exclusive ‘How to draw Jeremy’ session, as well as a variety of refreshments. The event is free to attend, and will be on Thursday the 28th of September, at 6.45pm, in Commercial Road.
The comic has already received an astounding amount of press, and positive reviews, as well as being part of The Guardian website’s bestsellers (for pre-orders).
