A Literary Mystery: Creative Writing Event

7 June | 18:00 - 20:00

Free

The University of Portsmouth, Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries are pleased to share A Literary Mystery Event organised by Dr Alison Habens.

Course Leader for BA Creative Writing, Alison Habens, is running a Creative Writing event, A Literary Mystery, in Park Building on 7th June, 6 – 8pm.

In the University of Portsmouth’s first building, there is writing on the wall. Hidden in a turret cupboard on the second floor is a curious quotation with a sinister message that seems to be linked to a dark incident in Park’s past.

Despite the help of the city’s famous writers, who come to life for a series of talks on Electric Telegraphy, Wireless Radio and Radium, the evening will take a spooky turn.

As Dickens and Kipling, H.G. Wells and Arthur Conan Doyle lead you up the ornate staircase and along the atmospheric corridors, you can solve clues in the sci-fi stories, scientific articles, and even the account of a séance they’ll share in this immersive literary mystery.

This event is completely free, and will start on the Park steps at 6pm.

This event is devised and directed by Dr Alison Habens, in association with Supernatural Cities and Portsmouth City Council’s BookFest.
