Alumni return to Portsmouth to perform at Portsmouth Guildhall

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries are thrilled to announce that University of Portsmouth alumni, who formed Brightside Entertainments, a comedic performance company based across the South of England, have produced a hilarious new comedy stage show, Definitely Not Romeo and Juliet!

The show will be performed at Portsmouth Guildhall Studio on 30 April at 7.45pm, before they take it on the road to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2019.

Definitely Not Romeo and Juliet! is a satirical stage show poking fun at the acting profession. With botched lines, technical glitches and bad acting, comedy ensues in this formally tragic play.

Show Synopsis:

On the day of Ernie Villa’s magnum opus (that bears a striking resemblance to Romeo and Juliet), he is horrified to find his entire cast is incapacitated and the only person available to help is the meek company understudy, Chris Mackleroy.

Ernie and Chris battle through the hiccups of staging a 7 person tragedy and they’re determined to hobble through regardless of what happens. And whatever you do, remember, it’s Definitely Not Romeo and Juliet! Funny slapstick, satire and something for the entire family.

Company Director, Mr Jamie Henville “If you buy a ticket for our show Definitely Not Romeo and Juliet!, you can guarantee from me personally that we will make you laugh.  If you don’t, you can get your money back. Not from me personally, or from Brightside Entertainments or any of the venues we perform in, but some lovely person.. Probably.. (Please note you are extremely unlikely to get any money back)”.

The Cast:

The alumni who form Brightside Entertainments are Jamie Henville, Josh Kelly, Max Silver, Holly Fairall, Chelseyleigh Sutton,  Holly Morrison, Shannon Docherty and Andrew Perez, who all graduated from the BA (Hons) Drama and Performance course.
