BA (Hons) Film Production students, from the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth, have been nominated for a Royal Television Society Award in the Comedy Drama category for their film Here Be Dragons.
The awards are being held at Winchester Guildhall on the 8th March. We join the likes of Bournemouth, University for the Creative Arts, Winchester and Southampton Solent in the shortlisted nominees.
Here Be Dragons is a comical, heart-warming twist on the typical ‘coming of age’ road trip genre film. Shot entirely in the Scottish Highlands the film centres on Mary, a 70-year-old wickedly sarcastic and wonderfully eccentric author who finds herself in a later-life-crisis. With the help of two conspiracy theorist brothers and a runaway bride, Mary finds her new beginning wasn’t quite what she had in mind.
This film is an outstanding example of what we strive to achieve on BAFP – original, creative and sophisticated filmmaking, so the staff team are extremely proud to have this film represent the course and University at the RTS awards.
