The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries is thrilled to announce that the University of Portsmouth Library will be hosting work created by CCI graduates for their final major projects in 2017, until the end of August!
Last year, saw the University purchase works from a variety of creative disciplines to add to the University of Portsmouth Art Collection. A panel led by the University Librarian, Roisin Gwyer, including members from Portsmouth galleries, selected work from both the undergraduate Graduate Show and Post Graduate shows. They selected work for purchase from students in five disciplines – Illustration, Graphic Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture & Design, and Photography.
The exhibition displays the work together for the first time and shows the range and talent of our graduates. As well as aesthetic considerations the panel looked for work with depth of research or
process, throwing insight onto social issues, and which reflected the University’s research themes or had a local dimension.
Many of the works are multipart and include artist books or models as well as framed works. It is hoped to showcase a broader range of the work that has been added to the University Collection in the future.
The Library’s intention is to display the works around campus on a rotating programme each year. The panel have recently had the very enjoyable task of choosing works from the 2018 Graduate Show to add to the University of Portsmouth Art Collection.
The 2017 works will be available to display until the end of August, and everyone is welcome to visit.
