Placement Student Releases Mobile Game

The University of Portsmouth, Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries is proud to share the success of Self Employed Placement student, Pierre McDougall.

Pierre McDougall is a BA Computer Games Technology student. During his second year Pierre became interested in taking a placement year, as he always wanted to set up his own independent games company, Pierre decided to take on the challenge of a Self Employed Placement Year.

Pierre’s aim during the Self Employed Placement Year  was focused around improving a range of hard and soft skills, rather than earning money, as it would take longer than a year to obtain a useful amount of revenue in this field.

To gain useful and relevant skills during the year, Pierre’s business idea was to create a game for mobile platforms using a simple concept that he considered before creating his business proposal.

During the year Pierre set-up the business PierreWare Games, designed, developed and published AstroBumpers for iOS and Android.

In addition to this, Pierre learnt an incredible amount which will help him greatly during his final year and after graduation.

Pierre said “Just being motivated gets you a long way”

For more information about PierreWare Games, and upcoming projects, head over to the website, you can also follow PierreWare Games on Facebook @PierreWareGames.

Download Astrobumbers now on App Store for iOS, or Google Play for Android.
