CCI Alumnus has Success at Film Festival

The University of Portsmouth, Faculty of Creative and Cultural industries is thrilled to share the success of BA Film production alumnus, Matt Daunt.

Matt Daunt graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 2013 and now runs a film production company in Nottingham called Lace Market Media Group with his Dad Mark.

He has now been awarded the first ever Hop D’Or award at the Marston’s Beer Town Film Festival.

He won the best promotional and music film category for Blue, his music video for the Nottingham-based singer/songwriter, Rob Green. He then went on to be chosen as best overall film for the festival as the directors’ choice.

Matt said “This is just amazing. I have only just recovered from a short stay in hospital, so to come to this and find out that I have won two awards is just incredible.”

Matt has made a few videos for Rob Green, and for the award winning Blue, they worked with Game of Thrones actor, Joe Dempsie, who stars as Gendry.

He said “We shot that video in a house in Derby and the aim was to do the whole video in one take. it took more than 40 attempts before we nailed it.

“We had track running through the house propped up on magazines and had to remove all the doors to squeeze the equipment through”

Matt received £1,000, the new hop D’Or award, and a special edition personalised bottle of Marston’s 61 Deep with his name and film title printed on the label.

The Beer Town Film Festival competition was launched by Marston’s Brewery for UK filmmakers in September 2017 and received 796 entries.
