Around 55 CCI students volunteered to be involved in the Creative Crew, working with pupils from Springfield, Mayfield, Milton Cross, St Edmund’s, Admiral Lord Nelson, Flying Bull Academy, and Portsmouth College.
Participating students used their degree skills to create briefs, which linked to current pupil projects, which they then delivered to school pupils across Portsmouth.
The skills and techniques students were able to provide, enabled pupils to extend their knowledge, enhance their work and be aware of what the University of Portsmouth offer.
A number of pupils visited Eldon Building, to experience a couple of hours in Express FM, which they loved, leading to a team of Television and Broadcasting students, assisting groups of ten year olds with setting up their own school radio station.
School of Architecture students inspired pupils to sketch and build model buildings, whilst Creative Writing, and Drama and Performance students also got involved to pass on their skills and knowledge.
Teachers at the schools involved, are always eager to have University of Portsmouth students back, to continue to inspire pupils, and pass their knowledge and skills on to the younger generation.
The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries are hoping to go into Riverside Community Special School for their February Creativity week, if you would like to volunteer your time and knowledge, email email@example.com.
