The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries recently hosted the prestigious GTC Awards Ceremony which is the Guild of Television Camera Professionals – Bill Vinten University Awards, an honour that was awarded to the University of Portsmouth in 2016.
It was a full house and a great atmosphere in the 200-seat lecture theatre in Eldon Building for the presentations of the fifth Bill Vinten GTC University Awards.
The Award Ceremony was opened by Professor Trevor Keeble, Dean of the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries. The event was organised in collaboration with Alan Duxbury, GTC Education Officer, with Ben Thompson, Course Leader and Section Lead for Film and Broadcasting. The media production for the event was co-ordinated by CCI’s Toby Meredith.
The Bill Vinten GTC University Award for undergraduates was won by Matt Jopling from Staffordshire University for his film TR White & Go Gunmakers, that can be found here.
The evening was an opportunity to meet colleagues over a plate of paella and a glass of wine, and to hear from guest speaker, wildlife film-maker, IAWF member Graham Hatherley.
Two students from Film Production (BAFP) were short-listed for individual awards, Matt Lewis for Graduate Film, ‘A Place For Everything’, and John Feuell for his Graduate film, ‘Adrift’.
All the shortlisted candidates and their films can be seen here.
