Top Banana Circus Reaching out to CCI Students

University of Portsmouth CCI SMPA students are being offered a chance to join a performance project with Top Banana Circus.

Top Banana Circus is a non profit organisation, that encourages young people to learn circus skills, as a way to support, enable, and develop the local community. Top Banana Circus state ‘Contemporary Circus is not just juggling and clowns, but an innovative and exciting art form incorporating elements of: dance, drama text, humour, physical theatre, and much more’

The organisation is now reaching out to circus lovers and passionate performers, to join their performance troupe.

Top Banana Circus are seeking people with circus, performance, or related skills to join their performance project, to help produce two distinctive, playful and imaginative contemporary circus performances.

Participants will take part in:

  • Weekly performance development sessions
  • Circus skill development sessions
  • Masterclasses with visiting specialists
  • Performances, from December 2017, until April 2018

All participants must be over the age of 16. All activities are Portsmouth based.

Circus skills can include: juggling, diabolo, poi, flower sticks, staff, hula hoop, stilts, unicycle, rolla-bolla, walking globe, tight-wire, acro balance, etc.

Related skills can include: dance, drama, gymnastics, parcour, and wrestling.
