The Faculty for Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth recently welcomed guests from multiple media agencies in Russia, including representatives Kristina Sulima from TASS, Ianina Zhiliaeva from ForbesLife, and Anna Sazonova from MEL website.
The visit took place on 25th May. Participants met the Dean of Faculty, Professor Trevor Keeble, and Eliana Lee-Gibbons of the Creative Careers Centre, as well as touring CCI’s workshop facilities, digital studio, illustration studios and architecture studios. The group also received a VR demonstration led by Dr Wendy Powell.
Conversations identified differences between education in the UK and Russia such as a focus on studio-based, practice-led, learning.
“We discussed the routes our graduates follow, the strength of our links with industry, the inter-disciplinary environment offered by the Faculty and the leading role the UK has played in defining the potential of the creative industries,” says CCI International Coordinator Bryony Whitmarsh. “Students we met on the tour expressed the opportunities that university has given them – both within their course, and outside.”
