The University of Portsmouth‘s Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries last week welcomed Dr Rana Al-Matarneh to discuss a framework for future collaboration with Al-Ahliyya University (AAU) in Amman, Jordan.
Dr Matarneh is the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at AAU. During this initial meeting, CCI discussed the importance of preparing students for professional life and were able to share the strengths of our programmes in the Faculty: real-life opportunities for students, working in partnership with industry, teaching by staff who have industry experience, access to industry standard software and hardware.
Al-Ahliyya University was the first private university in Jordan, established in 1990. They offer 29 Bachelor programmes, 6 Masters programmes and have approximately 6,000 students and 250 full time academic staff.
CCI International Coordinator Bryony Whitmarsh says, “It is always a great privilege to share experiences with colleagues from around the world. Universities are in a unique position to forge transnational synergies that can address global challenges. We look forward to developing our relationship with AAU and thank Dr Matarneh for her visit.”
