Senior Lecturer in Visual Culture in the School of Art and Design at the University of Portsmouth‘s Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries, Eva Balogh, has had her paper Stars in the Aisles: Cinema usherettes, identity and ideology published.
The article, published in the latest edition of Participations: Journal of Audience Studies and Reception Studies, illustrates the significant contribution made by the usherette to the movie-going experience, particularly during 1930s-1950s. This work contributes to Eva’s ongoing research about this important cinema employee.
Eva said, “I am delighted that Stars in the Aisles has been published and that the usherette has finally been given recognition in the academic arena.”
