Dr Wendy Powell appointed Deputy Director of CHMI

Dr Wendy Powell has been appointed Deputy Director of the Centre for Healthcare Modelling and Informatics (CHMI).

Wendy is a Reader in Virtual Reality in the School of Creative Technologies at the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries.

CHMI is based in the School of Computing at the University of Portsmouth, and is the foremost academic health informatics group in the South Coast of England.

Dr Powell has been a member of the Centre for a number of years, and has been appointed Deputy Director to assist Director Professor Jim Briggs in advancing cross-disciplinary research and knowledge transfer. CHMI members work with health care providers and commercial companies, using their expertise to improve healthcare delivery and administration.

Wendy says, “I’m delighted to be getting more closely involved with helping our excellent health technology researchers see the direct impact of their innovative work in real-world settings.”
