Drama and Performance Student takes part in SundaySurgery

On Sunday the 28 March, 3rd Year BA (Hons) Drama and Performance student of the University of Portsmouth Weronika Wiwatowska participated as an actor in SundaySurgery at the Poor School in London.

SundaySurgery is a Script Development Workshop, Presentation & Networking Event. Each month, professionals meet and workshop scenes from three new scripts, (stage, screen, or radioscripts) to help writers develop their work in a live, rehearsal-room setting. SundaySurgery is a professional, invite-only monthly script development workshop with a public presentation and the opportunity to network with industry peers.

Weronika performed the role of Agata in the new play TEAM LEADER, written by Urszula Kucharczyk and directed by Evi Stamatiou.

Evi Stamatiou, Lecturer in Musical Theatre at UoP, has said: “Weronika really engaged with the opportunity to work with industry professionals and not only achieved great feedback that will bring her future collaborations but she also showcased the professional standards to which we aim to train our students so that they can succeed in the entertainment industry.”

Weronika’s participation is part of the Centre for Performing Arts’ intention to offer to Drama and Performance, BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and MRes Creative Practices students opportunities to connect with the professional industry and develop their career after graduation.

The series of similar events will conclude with the Actors/Singers Showcase that will take place in Camden People’s Theatre on the 9th of June and will showcase our graduates’ skills to agents, casting directors and other industry professionals.
