Eldon Building recently hosted a Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries Taster Day with students from the International College Portsmouth (ICP), an Associate College of the University of Portsmouth.
Prospective students studying the Architecture and Design and Creative Technologies foundation pathways came to visit CCI Faculty’s facilities and enjoyed their first design challenge. Those planning to study Architecture or Interior Architecture and Design were challenged to create paper bridges and towers made of cards. Those due to join courses in the School of Art and Design had the opportunity to try their hands with the Letterpress machine and all of them had the chance to meet lecturers and current students from the CCI Schools.
Students from all over the world are able to join a range of CCI courses after studying a foundation year with ICP, here in Portsmouth. They study for two terms, giving them an opportunity to explore their chosen discipline, develop their skills and build their portfolio.
Roberto Braglia, Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture organised the event. “It was brilliant to meet this very enthusiastic group of ICP students and a great opportunity to start some good conversations about design in Architecture/Interior Architecture. Also, it was very exciting to see students from so many different backgrounds and to imagine the enriching contribution that they will be able to bring to the Faculty in the coming years.”
