The article explores adaptations of the fiction of H. P. Lovecraft for comics and graphic novels and forms a part of Rebecca’s research into horror fiction.
“The distinctive fictional worlds conjured up by H. P. Lovecraft in the early part of the twentieth century continue to exert a powerful influence on the contemporary horror genre,” explains Rebecca. “In this journal article, I focus specifically on ways in which comics and graphic novels bring new life to these classic tales of terror.”
Rebecca says that the support she’s received from the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University has allowed her to present her work at conferences and discuss important developments in horror with other scholars in the field.
“My future research will see me continue to explore how horror fiction functions in different media formats,” she concludes.
