Aspex is delighted to announce the start of ‘Family Saturdays’!
From Saturday 11 June, Aspex will be transformed into a world of creativity as families will be invited to take part in free artist-led arts and crafts activities.
The sessions will take place in the gallery’s new Learning Space, a result of a series of recent renovations supported by Arts Council England, the Foyle Foundation and the Garfield Weston Foundation. Aspex’s interior layout has been realigned, enabling greater outreach to the community through participatory events and workshops.
The first set of ‘Family Saturdays’ will be delivered by Aspex’s new ARMA artist-in-residence Alison Carlier, who will be encouraging families to create artwork in response to Aspex’s historic location in Gunwharf Quays.
Vicky Chapter, Participation and Learning Manager at Aspex, said “Earlier this year we took part in the BBC ‘Get Creative’ Day, a scheme celebrating arts, culture and creativity across the country”.
“We received a fantastic response through extending our programme to Saturdays. We hope that ‘Family Saturdays’ will allow us continue to provide accessible and enjoyable arts activities to the wider public”.
‘Family Saturdays’ will be drop-in workshops and require no prior booking, everyone is welcome.
